Abstract: | Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world. It is practiced since the birth of the organized society. It is a public molestation and humiliation to civilization. Women are forced into this profession by their families due to poverty. Society does not accept them and are socially outcast, but they too have a life. I am proposing a Residential Rehab cum Resource centre for rescued women from sexual slavery who were forcefully engaged in it. I am targeting workers of G.B Road (one of the largest brothels of India). The children of commercial sex workers living in red lights areas are often denied a childhood as they are exposed to their mother’s profession and associated addictions, violence and child labour. While girls are groomed in the business, boys often become pimps. I want to serve, and ultimately enable, those who fall outside the realm of social recognition; specifically, women working in prostitution. The project will provide a place for these women to learn alternative skills, become educated, and rediscover themselves. |
