Abstract: | The thesis seeks to design the Indian Institute of management in Nagpur. Learning is the central activity of colleges and universities. It happens generally in formal spaces like classrooms but interaction with a teacher face-to-face is always better than being one of the students in a class of 80 if student wants to learn. This is because of the divert attention of the teacher on the students which can make the session boring and students lose attention on the teacher. The design was aimed at increasing those face-to-face interactions along with formal learning hence, the theory of collaborative learning. This can be achieved by designing the spaces to increase the student-student and student-teacher interaction. A combination of formal and informal learning spaces is used. To do that, a series is followed between the open and built form hence, Inside-Outside concept. The two spaces are placed alternatively at site level. Also, the same concept will run through the interior of the buildings by providing a number of courtyards and interior open spaces. |
