Abstract: Our Indian culture has always been about coherent living with more than 3 generations living under one roof, but this fact changed in due course of time with people moving to urban areas and thus came the concept of vertical housing. The multilevel vertical housing became rigid on its own having lesser links to the outside context making it less flexible and hard to adapt. Before we know it the area requirement was counted in BHKs rather than family sizes and requirements. Even though the housing is for families with different generations, the individuality of the generations is hard to find. The project focuses on the multigenerational aspect of the housing sector making it a favorable space for each generation to live peacefully in coherence with other generations strengthening the bond between them. The project tends to figure out the design elements that can be considered while designing for families of various sizes. These learnings can be applied in the upcoming housing projects to make them more multigenerational.
