Abstract: This thesis project proposes a Buddhist Interpretation Centre in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. Bodh Gaya, a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists, lacks infrastructure for in-depth learning. This centre aims to bridge that gap by translating abstract Buddhist philosophy into a tangible spatial experience. The design will explore the intersection of culture, education, and architecture, fostering a deeper understanding and engagement with Buddhist teachings for visitors. By narrating Buddhist ideas through space, the centre will serve as a landmark enriching Bodh Gaya's spiritual and educational landscape. The project considers the challenges of interpreting cultural centres and aims to create a unique design that complements Bodh Gaya's existing heritage while catering to the needs of both local residents and tourists.
