Abstract: | This project focuses on designing an International Convention Centre in Agra, India, aiming to integrate the city's rich architectural identity with contemporary design practices. By blending Agra's historical aesthetics with modern functionality, the centre will serve as a landmark that respects its heritage while addressing current needs. Agra, renowned for its Mughal architecture, houses iconic structures like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri. These monuments exemplify intricate craftsmanship, symmetrical designs, and the use of local materials such as red sandstone and white marble. Contemporary architectural practices emphasize sustainability, functionality, and innovative use of technology. This study examines the juxtaposition of Agra's traditional architectural elements with modern design principles to create a harmonious and functional space. The project envisions a convention centre that reflects Agra's historical grandeur while incorporating state-of-the-art facilities. The design draws inspiration from Mughal architecture's geometric patterns, arches, and courtyards, blending them with modern materials and technologies. The centre will include conference halls, exhibition spaces, and recreational areas, each designed to provide an immersive cultural experience. The design process involved a comprehensive analysis of Agra's architectural motifs, climate considerations, and user requirements. The fusion of traditional and contemporary elements was achieved through iterative design and stakeholder consultations. The International Convention Centre in Agra exemplifies a successful blend of historical reverence and modern innovation. It serves as a model for integrating local architectural identity with contemporary practices, creating a functional yet culturally rich environment that honours Agra's heritage while meeting modern demands. |
