Abstract: | Spiritual spaces are not just limited to the functional aspects of the activities involved but also how the spaces are psychologically interpreted by the user by its form, colour, display of light etc. A spiritual space could be very efficient in catering to the functional needs but if it fails to deliver the psychological needs of the user, the purpose of the space is incomplete. Spirituality is more about the sense of feeling that is above the boundary of physical definition. Taking in consideration the functional motive of the building, this thesis project aims towards creating spirituality that unites people in spite of the huge diversity of cultural background with people from all over the world. The challenge is creating a unity among this diverse section of people through one thread. Therefore the project envisages towards developing design through various stages and which will ultimately help in generating appropriate design techniques that enhances the experiences of the user and make the design a functionally and aesthetically successful place for the user in experiencing the spiritual ambience of the place. Key words: Spirituality, cultural diversity, unity, natural light, ambience, colour, built height, view, built form. |
