Abstract: This project addresses the challenges faced by tribal communities in Kerala, particularly land displacement and its impact on livelihoods and cultural practices. The proposed intervention is a cluster of amenities located in Thirunelli, Wayanad, Kerala, designed to bridge the gap between tribal needs and a sustainable future. Through a literature review, the project explores the socio-economic struggles of tribal communities, their cultural connection to the environment, and the limitations of current development strategies. The design aims to create a self-sustaining interface that caters to both tribal necessities and responsible tourism. Analysing the site characteristics and successful case studies will inform the design process, ensuring optimal placement and a response that integrates seamlessly with the environment. The final proposal will encompass essential amenities like a primary health centre, a school, a market area, and facilities promoting traditional crafts like bamboo work. This project seeks to empower the tribal community through economic opportunities, while preserving their cultural heritage and fostering a harmonious relationship with the ecosystem.
