Urban areas are often characterized by a high density of buildings, traffic congestion, and limited green spaces, which can adversely affect the physical and mental well-being of residents. In cities like Hyderabad, the rapid pace of urbanization has led to the reduction of natural landscapes and recreational areas, making it challenging for urban dwellers to find spaces for relaxation, exercise, and social interaction. This issue is compounded by the increasing stress levels and sedentary lifestyles associated with urban living, which contribute to various health problems such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health disorders. This thesis explores the design and development of a sustainable recreational space at Durgam Cheruvu, Hyderabad, aimed at enhancing urban dwellers' physical and mental well-being. Integrating elements such as eco-friendly structures, cultural activity zones, and educational facilities, the project addresses the need for natural catchment improvement, alternatives to concrete structures, and community engagement. Through a combination of innovative landscaping, sustainable architecture, and diverse recreational amenities, the proposed design aims to revitalize the lakefront area, promoting environmental conservation and social interaction. The study includes comprehensive site analysis, case studies, and design strategies to create a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable urban oasis.en_US
