| Abstract: | CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / Ujjain : A two-day Executive Development Program (EDP) on the theme “Assessment of Inclusion in the Heritage City of Ujjain” commenced at MPT Shipra Residency, Ujjain. The event brought together professionals and stakeholders from various sectors to promote inclusive urban development. The program is part of a special project titled “Geo-Spatial Approach for Evaluating Inclusive Mobility in Ujjain” under the AMRUT Mission 2.0 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India. The project is being implemented by the Centre of Urban Planning for Capacity Building (CUPCB) at the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal. Participants included representatives from the Town and Country Planning Department, Ujjain Smart City Limited, Ujjain Municipal Corporation, teachers and differently-abled students from Manav Vikas School, experts from Urban Mass Transit Company, and faculty and students from architecture and planning institutes. The program is led by Prof. Vishakha Kavathekar, a heritage conservation expert (Team Leader), and Kshama Punatambekar, an urban planning expert (Deputy Team Leader). Kakoli Saha, Principal Investigator and an urban/regional planning and GIS expert, is coordinating the project, supported by Rachna Khare, Senior Architect and Accessibility Specialist (Co-Principal Investigator). The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Suchita Singh, Research Associate at SPA Bhopal, emphasizing the importance of inclusive, accessible, and sustainable urban planning in heritage-rich cities like Ujjain. This was followed by an interactive session led by Prof. Rachna Khare. The core aim of the program is to unite urban development professionals, policymakers, and members of the differently-abled community to explore how geospatial technologies and data-driven planning can ensure universal accessibility and inclusive infrastructure in heritage cities. The two-day event includes technical sessions, lessons from accessibility audits, simulation exercises with assistive tools, and interactive activities designed to integrate inclusive design into Ujjain’s public spaces and transit systems. #Ujjain #ExecutiveDevelopment #Inclusion #InclusiveGrowth #DiversityAndInclusion #ProfessionalTraining #SocialEquity #SkillDevelopment Tags: Capacity Development, Diversity and Inclusion, Executive Development Program, Inclusion, inclusive growth, Professional Development, Skill Building, Social Equity, Training Program, Ujjain |
