dc.description.abstract | Indian Fashion is recognized as one of the areas that have tremendous potential for the growth in future. Considering the potential in the industry and the need for proper utilization of resources, the Fashion Design Promotion Council has outlined certain areas that will be addressed through this project that are pivotal to future growth. The proposed fashion hub design is intended towards integration of production, exhibition, retail and administration spaces. They include hosting market meets, fashion shows during all the seasons, offer a wide variety of designer wear products from the Indian fashion manufacturing industry through a permanent exhibition, provide facilities of design, research on products and manufacturers, fashion photo shoots, etc. produce publicity material, literature on a wide range of fashion business related issues. The design will be a common centre which will amalgamate different aspects of fashion into one location and would inspire and attract regional and international attention. The challenge would be to create spaces and buildings which would keep the glamorous image of the fashion world but at no cost would ignore the functional aspect of it. Fashion is not only an influential factor of economy, but also an important tool of culture and entertainment in the urban context. The unique identity of fashion can form a starting point for the implementation of the proposal. The fashion centre should also achieve a dynamic, inner complex that functions as 'public place', generating the fabrics of the chosen site and acting as a 'living gallery' that continuously enhance our quality of urban life. | en_US |
