The project is an attempt to bridge the gap between the past and the future- the vernacular and the contemporary Buildings. Emphasizing on the fact that apart from the preservation of vernacular architecture it is more important to carry forward the valuable lessons of the past into the future. Energy, environment and architecture they are closely related, the more is the energy consumption the worse is the environmental degradation. [1]. Due to Advancement in standard of living and increase in the world’s population, energy exhaustion in the buildings sector is very high and is expected to increase further. So Integrating solar passive features in climate responsive buildings are good options for energy conservation. In Ancient times, solar passive techniques have been used by people in vernacular architectures in every part of the world. However, still there is a lack of understanding, experimental validation and quantitative analysis in North-east, India which perfectly represent the principle of climate oriented architecture. The design project is an attempt to understand the possibilities of responses to such houses. Based on the result of the thesis dissertation report title” Sustainable approach towards contemporary vernacular architecture” a set of design responses or rather principles and strategies would be presented which have majorly influences the entire essence of the Eco-Tourist Resort, Assamen_US
