Proposed metro station and precinct development, Jaipur

Abstract

With growing population and industrial and commercial development plans coming up for the Jaipur City, the travel demand is expected to grow steeply. With the growing economy and inadequate public transport services, the passengers shall shift to private modes, which is already evident from the congestion and traffic issues in the area. Hence, it is essential to plan and provide for a Metro System in Chhoti Chaupar, Jaipur. The Thesis aims at designing a metro station and integrating the precinct such that it enhances the social value and character of the area. Being everyday public spaces, the station and the precinct will physically, socially and culturally define the city’s character and identity. A comprehensive and logical design is aimed at by analysing all the necessary parameters through literature and live case studies of similar kind. The thesis report showcases this detailed design methodology from site selection to final design proposals.
