Abstract: | Decades of exploitation through anthropogenic activity of dumping ash leaves behind an urban blight in the form of a flyash wasteland. Flyash is an extremely perilous coal combustion residue with slight radioactivity and extreme damage to natural resource including soil, water, vegetation, whole ecosystem and human health. However, such a brownfield holds capacity to revive and serve back the city it is situated in. The aim of this thesis is to reclaim such a derelict landscape and create a functioning post-industrial land use. To stabilise the hazardous and contaminated material is the foundation of this process driven landscape design. Designing and constructing every last detail of a contemporary natural ecosystem lost to ash disposal, reclamation works with the nation to develop open-ended ecosystem that will continue to evolve long after reclamation has been completed. To create a state-of-art recreational space accommodate creative activities for social groups make the process intriguing to welcome visitors over the years of development. |
