The thesis deals with the design of the Museum campus in the city of Pune – Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum-2000. The project was proposed by the Govt. of Maharashtra in the year 2011. The project aims to develop a design solution which tries to reinterpret the way museums are designed in India, following a user centric approach. A Museum is a building, place or institution devoted to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition and educational interpretation of objects having scientific, historical or artistic value. Going to a museum can teach us, delight us and inspire us; however, a lot of effort goes into a museum exhibit design. One of the most important aspect of exhibit design is “displays”. we can learn a lot by understanding the ingredients that make such designs so successful. A museum is constantly looking for different ways to attract visitors. That makes the exhibits and displays the most crucial part of communication between the art/ artefacts and the visitor. Thus, it is a great responsibility of the architect to analyze how exhibition designs affect the meanings and receptions of specific objects, images, artefacts, and buildings when they are displayed, how do installations shape the viewer's experience of the cultural ritual of a museum visit etc.en_US
