Abstract: In Ladakh region, two Kashmir university campuses have been proposed by the state government in Leh & Kargil each. The proposed site for Kargil campus is 25 kms away from the main kargil city with an area of 74 acres. In kargil campus design climate is one of the most important factor as it is one of the coldest inhabitable place in the world. Passive solar heating techniques have been used in the design for a sustainable approach. In the process, focus on creating important interactive spaces has been also given to fill the campus with interesting spaces. Though at some points design had to be compromised because of the harshness of the climate.
