There is growing recognition that the value of the historic towns and cities lies not only in their monuments, but also in the relationship among those monuments, larger urban environments, and cultural practices that give them meaning for ages. Many researches proof that the Tangible and intangible cultural heritage are the assets of a community, city or a region though it has for long remained on the periphery with very little and even at times almost no attention being paid to it while developing frameworks for safeguarding the heritage assets of historic cities, towns and precincts. To critically examine the issues in rapid growing cities this thesis adopts an evidence-based methodology in critically examining two very culturally rich and rapidly transforming Indian cities - Delhi and Ahmedabad to investigate the role of different variables in applying diverse content and presentation methods in cultural revitalization of urban places during the last decade. The Study in the thesis can help in formulating holistic and practical strategies for cultural revitalization of precinct, appropriating public spaces and their place making by urban stakeholdersen_US
