dc.description.abstractIndia is a land of art and culture. The most significant culture is represented through its language of unique art and craft. The increasing economic growth and marketing has led to death of many art forms, residing in the corners of the country. Many governments have taken up initiatives to provide platform for encouraging the unique culture and providing artisans opportunities in market through tourism. In order to provide spaces for these artisans, a standardised module has led to insensitive approach towards designing. With unique cultural identity, it is important to study the flexibility of artisans for their workspace and design rather than mimicking, in consideration with tourist as well as artisans interest. Chhattisgarh is synonymous to tribes and has the largest of tribal population. Tribes have unique lifestyle and culture which has a deep connection with nature and its resources. These Adivasis converse through their language of art and craft, using wood, clay, bamboo, iron, sisal etc. These arts and crafts play a major role in all aspects of tribal culture, from architectural elements to symbolic relations. With the upcoming tourism potential of the state, the study of art and craft and its influences can contribute in creating spaces culture sensitive spaces encouraging tourism.en_US
