In the context of the present scenario the nomadic tribes, they are treated as scars
and threat to the society. Now due to development of infrastructure the tribe does
not have any source of income. The thesis project is a design proposal for 100
dwellings for Lakha Banjara community of Rajasthan. The project is to settle the
nomadic community who are already settled in the foothills of Aravalli Ranges in
temporary shelters. The need is to provide the tribe with basic amenities. The thesis
focuses on the tribe needs and requirements. After analysing their requirements, the
project requirements are finalised. The project provides opportunities for the tribe to
use their expertise for income generation.
The Lakha Banjara community is nomadic community of Rajasthan. The community
is expert in animal husbandry. Before 50- 60 years these communities used to travel
along with their cattle but now as they do not practice nomadism, they are wage
labourers. Hence the project tries to uplift the community using architectural
interventions.
The scope of the thesis is to uplift the community using architectural interventions
based on their lifestyle and culture. The thesis aims to improve the living standards of
