dc.description.abstract Land is one of the important resources of any country. The Government has to acquire land from the private individuals for setting up various infrastructure and other public purpose projects. Town Planning Scheme is the tool by which, government can possesses the land for development. But in past few months, issues related to land acquisition got lots of heat. Many arguments and protest happened in our country related to illegal land acquisition. As a result, a person in our country also starts taking interest in such issues, who has no concern with all these. This curiosity encouraged me to take the topic related with Town Planning Scheme. Madhya Pradesh state has very vast area but rate of urban population is comparatively very low. So, through Town Planning Scheme the fringe areas can be developed and it becomes easy to manage the city growth. In this thesis, A comparative analysis is done between Town Planning Scheme sections in the Town Planning Act of various state. The study is undertaken for five states: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh as these states are actively participating in scheme preparation. As an outcome of the analysis, modified guidelines and provisions for Madhya Pradesh Town Planning Act can be applicable for specific Town Planning Sections in the Act. With thoughtful modifications in the enforcement procedure, it is possible to make a model Town Planning Scheme. And it can easily applicable at rural as well as urban level in Madhya Pradesh. en_US
