Vernacular construction techniques are unique and reflect their resilient rational features in terms of disaster with accountable performance in terms of low damage and survival during earthquake and other tragic disasters.
Nepal is a landlocked country in South Asia. Nepal has a diverse geography, including fertile plains, subalpine forested hills, and eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. This culturally rich land fails to be highlighted before the
International audience. Due to its location and its physical feature, this is very unstable in
landform. Earthquake and landslides are very likely to be appear anytime since it rests on
tectonic plate which is very actively moving in late few years. The impacts are tragic due to topography, ridge effects, foundation style and structural design and materials used. People are desperate to reconstruct using seismic resistant technology, but only few are concerned about the traditionality and heritage conservation.
This thesis project is an attempt to Design post-earthquake: disaster resilient village Resettlement for the people in Barpak who suffered in the 2015 earthquake. It is an attempt to rdesign a village in order to make it disaster resilient keeping in mind the site conditions and without hindering the traditional and cultural lifestyle of the villagers. The scope of this thesis looks at improving the living conditions of morally battered and socially dispersed community with improved accessibility to the village |
