dc.description.abstract Humans and animals have lived coherently as a family for thousands of years. They lived off each other and hence, provided the basic necessities. But humans grew smarter and farther away from their roots in the recent years. After this black patch in our history, we now notice that the animal human relationship changed into mere spectator relation. For example, zoos, nation parks, etc. for some though, the domestication of dogs, cats etc shows a very positive impact on the lives of their humans. Domesticated animals in a country like India, have been stranded for the longest time. A few NGO’s are working towards their upliftment and better life conditions but have failed to do so due lack of help, awareness from public, lack of funds and ever increasing no. of strays in the society. The idea is to design a place that focuses on making spaces where the animals can be trained and taken care of. Also, inviting humans to develop a relation with these animals and develop a symbiotic relationship between the two species. Resulting in a higher emotional quotient of the society, increasing the happiness quotient, betterment of animal shelters, increasing economy for no kill animal shelters. There has to be a solution that has a better play between creating an environment where animals can thrive, and also be studied or protected. Finally, in a world where sustainability and environmentally conscious building practices are being pushed harder and harder, who or what are we ultimately designing for? Hopefully, it’s not solely with the human in mind. The thesis thus focusses on designing a space for generating this bond between humans and animals and generating awareness regarding the same. en_US
