The changing lifestyle and urbanized city life have led to longer lives and ageing populations in the
Indian societies. As result of which it is important for the families and the system at various levels to
understand the dynamically changing needs of present situation, to provide a certain support and
ensure quality of life among aged populations. The Indian society has seen the concepts of joint
families in the older times but with advancement of lifestyle and amidst the movement to cities we
tend to absorb ourselves into the concept of nuclear families.
To curb this issue an intergeneration project that can bring the segregated age groups, the forth
coming generations interact and get opportunity to mingle with each other, there are friendships
which from, connections are built. A sense of belonging is imparted to between the two generations.
Moreover, such a setting will it only help to bring them closer, but also tackle the socio-economic
issues by generating opportunity to indulge in various activities by design.
There is a detailed study on how architecture can be related to the various psycho-social theories
and can be translated to design through various identified architectural paraments identified during
literature study. For case study 5 projects were considered to pertain understanding of the senior
living facility and some for understanding design of intergenerational projects.
The design process has been approached stepped by step and proceeding each advancement
keeping in mind the previous decisions taken for design and analysis. These considerations have
helped me to bridge the link between project concept and project actualization. |
