Abstract:
In order to enhance the experience of pursuing a degree in Architecture, it
becomes extremely important for the surrounding environment in itself to impart
a positive learning atmosphere wherein the student can exhibit his skills and
make maximum use of his potential. This review analysis researches from lot of
places that shows how the physical or built environment of a campus makes an
impact on the students in their learning or how a good physical environment can
have an influence on their learning process. The main focus of the research is
to determine the campus' built physical surrounding and environment influences
the process of learning when it comes to architectural education. Factors or
parameters that affect students' learning potential were identified. Although
there are studies regarding the impact of built environment on an enrolled
student's education, there has been no in-depth study to understand the effect
of built physical environment on individuals undertaking design-based course, in
this case, Architecture education. A comparative study was done between a
designed architecture college and a college adapted for architecture education
based on the identified parameters that causes an impact on the students’
education. A survey was done on students undertaking architecture course in
specifically designed colleges and colleges adapted for the purpose separately
and the results were compared and analyzed. It is found that the students in
colleges adapted for the purpose fail to have a hands-on architecture
experience in their college and other results also implied that design and
environment of the campus makes an impact on the student's education.
