dc.description.abstract A building designed for various activities in a primary, secondary, or higher educational system. This is the most important part of human needs of life. Education is not only good for children it is also good for nation. Schools constitute one of the building types whose built environment has a direct impact on the quality of the functions they accommodate—in this case, teaching, learning, and related activities. Thus, for as long as educating our young is a central issue in society, the planning ,design, construction, and operation of schools will be an essential and challenging task. Probably the most important issue that school designers (and their clients) must understand is how the physical environment relates to and can support the learning process. As a child grows, he or she typically learns in different ways, and the physical environment of the school should reflect this characteristic. A well designed environment can help stimulate and support teaching, whereas a poorly designed school can inhibit learning. The architect who designs a school building cannot think only in terms of shelter, or blueprints, or brick and stone and steel. The architect must think about the individuals who will use the building. The architect must think about the job the building should help to do: the full development of all of each student’s potentials. If the architect keeps these things in mind, he may be able to contribute. . . to the achievement of the educator’s goals...by creating a building that is a tool for the teacher and an expression of the school’s educational approach...by creating an atmosphere, a mood, to aid the student in every learning task set before him...by making the school a place the student looks forward to entering, and one he regrets leaving. en_US
