Abstract:
The thesis project is a government office building in the Gurgaon
district of Haryana. Gurgaon has become an international hub for
business in the world ,with the growing needs of urbanization and
increasing business opportunities there is a large demand for well
planned ,sustainable and high tech offices in the city ,the office design
of my thesis is primarily governed by these factors .It is an high-tech
office building designed to suit the functional and hierarchical aspects of
a government organisation .The buildings outer profile is rectangular making it
space efficient in the very framework of the building. Project comprises of an
extensive study and experimentation of various available configurations for
maximum space efficiency. The placement of individual offices, private and
semi private personnel’s, supervisory and non-supervisory personnel’s ,
managerial and non-managerial personnel, in a way to create hierarchy of
ranks. The attention was paid to the functional aspects, massing and
aesthetics on the basis of which the whole design evolve. A centralized
pattern is adopted for planning various spaces. The predominant activity of
the office spaces are observed and are placed in a way to achieve ease of
access and Identification. Landscape areas are used as an aesthetics
element and functional purpose to improve overall quality of space and thus
increasing work efficiency. Effective depth of the workspaces is designed to
capture daylight. The building is also cost effective by providing a service core
centrally to distribute mass, networking. Workstations aligned along perimeter
and cabins in the interiors to harness maximum daylight. Grid planning has
been done in advance to promote structural and functional aspects. The
CPWD head quarters are designed to accommodate all the branches of the
organization which is challenging because of the difference in the functioning
of each branch and this is followed throughout the designing and zoning
process. The design on total met the standards and requirements considered
in the scope considered during the selection of the topic
