dc.description.abstract Formerly used sites, now perceived as Brownfield land sites, often stay idle, defunct or under-utilized inside an urban precinct as the consequence of exploding urbanization and industrialization. Brownfield redevelopment can be describes as comparatively a new method started in late 1980s, primarily in United States and Europe. It presents a substitute to increased Greenfield development in urban peripheries by reducing the advancing urban sprawl. With the globally recognized idea of sustainability, these Brownfield sites can also be looked as the assets for accomplishing the respective urban development goals. The research work explores on equipping the urban local authorities, urban planners and associated stakeholders with an enhanced definitive methodology in discovering, assessing and focusing the redevelopment potential of recognized Brownfield sites inside an urban setting of the Indore city. The expected outcome will be a two step mechanism for identifying potential Brownfield sites and assessment of respective redevelopment potential using the comparative case analysis of Indore city. The preliminary part establishes the identification of the existing Brownfield sites for redevelopment purposes and the later responds to the assessment of their redevelopment potential taking into account the Environmental Contamination, Community Preferences, Regulatory Constraints and Economic Viability. en_US
