Abstract:
My thesis project title is Premises of Vidhan Sabha Dehradun having a site area of 200 acres. The site is in Raipur road, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The parliament building embodies an image or commanding presence of state and evokes the ideal of national identity pride and discourse of power. Moreover it represents tradition, stability and authority. The main objective lies in developing an appropriate state of architecture that meets the people and further explore the democratic language of parliament and public spaces with the creative use of light, spatial qualities and balancing act between need for security and openness
along with public realm.
The Vidhan Bhavan building or the State Assembly in Dehradun, capital of the newly formed state of Uttaranchal is proposed by the state government of Uttaranchal. The total area of the proposed site is 500 acres. The proposal of Vidhan Sabha contains Vidhan Sabha building, Office Block, Secretariat Building and a township for the members of these offices.
My building concept is Democracy and Power which have a direct connection with the residing people of Dehradun. Democracy is To the People, For the People and From the People. Thus the regional impact plays a very important role in my design.
