dc.description.abstract As the current notion of the education system in India relies on learning and the exchange of knowledge within the confines of a classroom, there is an increased need for the creation and inclusion of informal learning spaces within schools. Informal learning has been an important part of the traditional Indian educational approach, the Gurukul system, which emphasized the concept of learning through and with nature and peer interaction. This design thesis explores how learning spaces can be adapted or modified from the Gurukul model in modern-day residential schools aided by a comprehensive case study approach.
