Abstract:
The thesis has been chosen on the basis of the unique character of the stretch linking two
transport nodes at the entrance of the city situated both on National and State Highway passing
through the city. The peculiar dimension of development in Aurangabad has been along the
National Highway cutting through the city as observed in past decade and forming the main
spine within the city both economical and physical. The entry nodes to the city on site are the
Railway station and Bus stand and in terms of road are the two major nodes near each of the
transport nodes.
These two nodes are connected functionally by the users on site and physically by a road but in
terms of experience and form the entire stretch is very fragmented resulting into a discontinuous
form generated on the stretch. Due to the presence of cantonment land on one side of the road the
land is not developed and what you see is an imbalanced urban form on the entire stretch making
it singly loaded. Hence, many issues related to the image of this place arise as this stretch gives
the first impression of the city whenever you enter by road, rail or bus.
Hence, the thesis would take into consideration the existing scenario of the land ownerships and
various means of connecting the entire stretch spatially would be the aim of the thesis.
