Abstract:
The "Smell and Experience: Design through Exploration" project is an exploratory research initiative aimed at exploring the role of olfactory design in enhancing user experience. Designers focus on using lines, colors, and textures to give ideas form, but they need to consider how things smell. This project explores how the sense of smell can be brought into the design to enhance the experience and will study multi-sensory experiences where the smell is a sense. Design by Exploration is a design methodology that emphasizes the role of experimentation and exploration in the design process. This approach allows a more open-ended, iterative, and flexible design process to try different ideas and methods instead of following a fixed plan. One of the project's key objectives is to investigate how smell can create immersive experiences that evoke emotions, memories, and associations. By exploring the relationship between scent, memory, and experience, the project aims to provide a deeper understanding of how designers can create experiences that are both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally meaningful.
