dc.description.abstract According to sociology, the term “empathy” refers to an association between two persons. In terms of architecture, “empathy” is the association between a person and the built environment. This kind of association, between human and building, exists universally regardless of the race, culture and differences in personal experience. The ambiance of a space, which depends on its architecture and interior design, has an effect on people who use that space. In recent years, design for health care environments has begun to include aesthetic enhancements in an attempt to reduce stress and anxiety, increase patient satisfaction, and promote health and healing. This thesis mainly focuses on creating spaces for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, where the concept of empathy is introduced by designing healing spaces. en_US
