dc.description.abstract Ross Island, a tranquil island in the Andamans, is poised to become a poignant memorial space dedicated to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Fauj. This thesis proposes a museum that seamlessly integrates with the island's natural environment, weaving together threads of history, memory, and ecological sensitivity. The design philosophy champions a sustainable approach, minimizing the built footprint and maximizing the integration of micro-climate. Locally sourced materials and vernacular construction techniques will echo the resilience of the INA soldiers. The museum will not just be a static repository of artifacts. It will be a dynamic space that fosters engagement through interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and curated storytelling. Personal narratives and immersive experiences will bring history alive, allowing visitors to connect with the struggles and sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The design recognizes the inherent value of the island's ecosystem. By incorporating green open spaces, courtyards, and nature trails, the museum will encourage visitors to experience the island's natural beauty. This fosters a deeper appreciation for the natural world, a world that Netaji and the INA soldiers likely sought solace in during their time in Andaman. This thesis project aims to create a space that transcends the traditional museum experience. It aspires to be a contemplative haven where visitors can engage with history, connect with nature, and gain a deeper understanding of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's enduring legacy.
