dc.description.abstract The increasing global focus on Mars exploration requires advanced facilities that simulate Martian conditions for scientific research and astronaut training. MIGMARX, located in Leh Ladakh’s trans-Himalayan region, addresses this by serving as a prototype facility that replicates Mars’ harsh environment to support research, simulation, and experiential learning. Leh Ladakh’s arid climate, low atmospheric pressure, sparse vegetation, and extreme temperatures make it an ideal Earth analog for studying human adaptability, life support systems, and architectural solutions for extraterrestrial habitats. MIGMARX acts as a collaborative platform for space scientists, engineers, researchers, and astronauts bridging Earth and Mars. The project concentrates on three key research areas: (1) vegetation and food production through hydroponics, aquaponics, and soil and soil-less farming; (2) climate, environment, and geological studies including soil simulation; and (3) automobility and habitat development focusing on modular, adaptive living systems. These are expressed through three architectural blocks. The vegetation block is integrated into the terrain to provide thermal stability vital for Martian agriculture. The climate and geology block is designed for optimal solar gain using passive heating and radiation control for sub-zero comfort. The automobile and habitat unit, inspired by the Starship rocket, explores modularity, mobility, and docking essential for Mars surface exploration. MIGMARX emphasizes self-sufficiency, aiming to sustain food, energy, and water independently—simulating Martian autonomy. Solar panels, water recycling, thermal insulation, and renewable technologies support this. Its structural system combines modular and vernacular methods to test construction techniques suited for Mars. MIGMARX envisions Earth as a testing ground for future interplanetary living. Keywords: Martian Exploration, Extreme climate adaptation, Research Facility, Passive Solar design. 14 en_US
