Water is basic human need. At present water issue is becoming increasingly critical especially in urban areas, due to population growth, urbanization and the expansion of cities. Due to change in economic status and consumption pattern, pressures on urban water resources have increased tremendously. It is therefore the need of the time to incorporate urban water management in the planning process. Gwalior city is the third largest cities in Madhya Pradesh facing acute water problem. Water demand of Gwalior city is increasing very rapidly because of the city growing at rate of 30%. Dependency on ground water is very high The present study has been conducted to assess the urban water management System in relation to landuse of the Gwalior city and propose the technical solution for Gwalior city. First the present scenario of Gwalior study and understand the factor affecting to it. After this to understand and analyse the water management system (Water Supply, Sewerage, and Strom water management) in Relation to landuse of the Gwalior city first understand the history of water management in Gwalior, secondly water use relationship studied to trace out critical area in terms of quality and quantity for different management systemand then water runoff analysis is done to find out the direction of water flow. On the basis of the study to fulfill the water gap, the potential source of local water augmentation have been work out through various alternative techniques, such as water rainwater harvesting, re-cycle and reuse of waste water at city level. |
