dc.description.abstract Football is the most popular game in the world, bigger than Olympic itself. Out of 207 countries in the world 200 countries are football playing nation. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries, making it the world's most popular sport. But in the midst of all this madness towards the game, cricket is the dominant game in India. Bring a country with 1.2 billion populations India does not have a team in the FIFA World Cup but the country follows the world championship closely especially in Indian states that are host to numerous football clubs. We get to see India divided by loyalties – not based on religion or caste, political party or social standing but by its support to the world’s best football national teams for four weeks every four year. Nowadays dominancy of cricket is somehow diminishing and importance of football is being realized by the Indian youth and sport authorities in India. Emergence of Indian Super League is the first step towards upliftment of footballing infrastructure in the country. To compliment the effort India won the bid to host 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup. It’s a huge boost for Indian youth and it will bring India on global podium. Hosting this event will mean investment from European footballing clubs and infrastructure boost from them. India lacks International football stadiums to host the event. So to solve this problem AIFF has proposed a new stadium in Bengaluru. The stadium will host some games in 2017 and the stadium will be handed over to Bengaluru F.C. & will serve for the upliftment of Indian football. All together designing this stadium is a dynamic opportunity for an architect to make a mark in Indian football. An iconic stadium is much greater than only playing field; it can be a landmark in cityscape. en_US
