dc.description.abstract A museum is one building with multiple functions of displaying and conserving artefacts and educating the visitors, but most of museums in India, there is no connection between a museum building and its purpose, with artefacts just kept inside a building which might or might not be enhancing the impact of the object of display. The complete research and design process of this thesis project has been to understand the relation between museum spaces and the artefacts and how they can enhance each others’ importance. The entire study is focused down to the importance of designing a museum building in case when the artefacts are already known and how spaces can narrate the entire story around the object of display. The context of museum with respect to the site and the world heritage site of Sanchi has also sculpted the design concept of the project. Another important aspect of museum design which can help to enhance the experience of a museum is proper lighting inside the museum. So the design has special detailing of incorporating natural lighting in the museum interiors. en_US
