The proposed design is intended towards experience and interaction both
inside and outside the building, as well as the interaction with the city. The
project creates a place that wants to give back to the people. If the
building and space is popular, it will attract people and make them want
to become part of the environment as individual building is always seen as
part of whole.
In the last few decades, biodiversity has come under increasing pressure
globally on account of factors such as loss of biodiversity, degradation of
habitats, habitat fragmentation, development imperatives and, more
recently, global warming. For India, conservation of her biodiversity is
crucial not only because biodiversity provides several goods and services
necessary for human survival but also because it is directly linked with
providing livelihoods to and improving the socio-economic conditions of
millions of our local people, thereby contributing to sustainable
development and alleviation of poverty.
The National Biodiversity Museum is aimed at creating awareness among
people on the importance of conservation of biological diversity and
genetic integrity of plants, animals and micro-organisms along with
ensuring unhindered evolution of living resources.
It would be created in such a manner that the visitor would visualize and
understand the importance and relevance of biodiversity conservation,
sustainable development and their uses. The idea of design is to create
immersive learning experience in a museum complex. It would house a vast
collection of plant species and small animal species. |
