Abstract:
The thesis design project concerns with the design of a corporate office for a biotechnology
firm deigned for 520 occupants which will be under complete ownership of the company.It
shall house offices for the board members,manager and workplaces for the employees.In
addition to these offices, the Chief managing directors and Directorates, along with support
facilities, are to be housed in the same complex.
The aim is to design a building to meet the clients requirements with an understanding of
local climatic conditions, leading to an energy efficient building. Ease of public access,
design adaptability and flexibility and sensitivity to site are other factors that are the
highlights of the project.
The site is of 3.56 acres in a prime location in Gurgaon on Golf course extension road.
Detailed study and understanding of the site context is required to deal with site
constraints. The trees are to be retained on the site and the shape of the site has to be
taken into consideration.
A detailed literature study is done to find the basis of the design.The case studies are
selected according to the site area and functional requirements .A detailed analysis of case
studies helped to understand the built form and its features.The comparative study helped
form detailed area requirements.
The interrelationship charts, bubble diagrams and climatic study combined together gave
conclusions and inferences to develop my concept. Shadow analysis for the form helped in
deriving the current form. Site planning and design correspond to green technologies .
All the factors studied in detail helped me to understand and conclude various aspects
related to the design of my design thesis project.
