dc.description.abstract Death is the reality of life. It is the last rite of passage that the human goes through in his lifetime.Birth being the first, and death being the last. The funeral grounds, namely‐ Crematorium and Graveyards are not mere 'spaces' but 'places' for the ceremonial carrying out of the event. These funeral spaces are an important civic amenityneeded to all. Thus, not only the spatial and functional objectives of the above be met, but the comfort of the fellow mates (majorly elderly) should also be catered to , to create a barrier‐free environment to everyone. Further, considering the same origin to humanity, 'Why could there not be a common final resting place to all?'. The thesis hence aims, to bring up a model of a funeral complex, that would cater to the various sections of the society altogether. With the technical advancements in the corpse disposal methods, there are various other optionsthat one could opt for. Provisions for these technically advanced and ecofriendly methods shall also be provided within the complex. Environmental sensitivity towards the graveyards and the urns collected post‐cremation, also needs due consideration. Thus, the thesis aims to create an 'Integrated funeral Complex' that would cater to the various communities as per their respective spatial and functional necessities. The complex hence designed, would meet‐up to the accessibility standards to all and be environmentally sensitive. Looking at the social issues that might rise up due to the 'Integrated model', it is desired that the various communities are kept segregated initially, and integrated post‐funeral. en_US
