Abstract:
The purpose of the present report is to detail out the design process involved in designing the proposed Music and Performing Arts Institute at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The purpose of the institution is to promote the education of the music, dance and drama of both Indian and foreign origin. Located amongst other educational institutions of various disciplines, this institute is aimed at providing scope for education and performances of various fields of performing arts. The importance of the proposition for a performing arts institute among other institutes of education that provide indulged in fields of academic fields of rather technical studies remains high. Given its nature and facilities, it not only brings a change in the lifestyle of the users as well as the region. The importance of art forms in our lives is immense, but to consider an art form as a profession in our society is not an easy option. But the presence of an institution of such scale that provides quality education and scope to consider ones passion as profession is a big change in itself and our societies. For reasons as such which may not really be liked to be expressed, the presence of an institution for performing arts is of great importance to our educational system and society. The cultural difference between the eastern and western countries is vast, so are our art forms different. Both in their own places hold great importance to individuals, region, society and the country as a whole. The institution is aimed at providing education of Indian classical music and performing arts and Western music and performing arts. Together, it will make a huge impact on the users and audience alike as the importance and beauty of both the genres will be well expressed through teaching, practicing and performances. The design idea sums up to give an impression any possible relation between architecture and music. Through the form, design elements and details, and physical expression of musical elements through architecture. The consideration of the site as a blank musical score sheet allow us to fill it with architectural notations (built form and other physical elements of design) that not only abide by the idea of musical influence, but also express the influence of the site-features and the surrounding is the core concept of the design.
