Abstract:
It has been long time when the Saharanpur Junction came into existence during the British Empire in India. At that time a Very limited number of trains passed through the station. Also the Station was placed on the outer periphery of the city at that time. In recent decades the with the exponential increase in population, Households are developed on both side of stations and about half the population started living on the southern side of Railway Station. It is very much required to have a access to the railway station from both side of the city to reduce the load on city's infrastructure like Overhead Bridge. It will also be comfortable for the commuters to have access from south side as seen from primary survey result.
Thus after long surveys and meetings with railway officers, this design thesis is done to manifest the reality of having a south block of Saharanpur Junction which is designed keeping in view the need of present commuters as well as the future prospect of Government plans related to doubling of Delhi-Shamli route and Dedicated Freight Corridor Loops.
