Educational institutions are indicators of the direction in which a culture intends to be headed in. Built in anticipation of market trends; they represent the value that a community attaches to learning. In Higher Education there has been considerable recent interest in transforming learning spaces. For the Designers field learning should be more informal such as social learning spaces. Architectural provision for the educational sectors needs to develop learning spaces based on greater clarity and creativity. • What kinds of spaces are we talking about – conceptual, physical, virtual, social, and personal? • What are the relationship between architectural design and learning spaces? • What are the different spaces in which learning takes place and how can we judge their relative effectiveness? |
