Abstract:
Architecture for urban health, creating small urban spaces that stimulate your senses, improve your physical and mental health. The civic spaces has strong significance in nurturing the urban health of that place. These civic spaces are mostly been associated to cultural and commercial activities which is evident from past. Most of the civic gatherings, cultural activities were used to be located near commercial centres. The commercial centres have always been a destination point of development residents which ensures community interaction. In current scenario, most of the new developments have been found with a lack of these spaces. Though the existing commercial spaces assisted with public amenities are also used as civic spot within community. Considering rapid growth of towns and smart cities and also counting the lack of civic spaces in today’s urban regime, there emerges a need to infuse public infrastructure into upcoming developments. So that so in due course of time they will shape into successful social spaces. According to this, a civic asset like Commercial District is been taken into concern as thesis project. This kind of development will help to induce social dimension into city which will in-turn compliment commerce and trade part by promoting impulse buying, shopping spree, window shopping etc. The concerned design proposal aims at social equity based design by developing a democratic commercial district. The design is based on the Bazaar-Mall concept which is based on Three Magnet Model, producing a district with liked ones of traditional bazaars and contemporary malls. This commercial project not only incorporate civic dimension, but
also ensures flexibility and fluidness in the design to achieve an Urban Bazaar, covered
public spatial arrangement which is surrounded by shops and stores in a dramatic fashion
or a place for shopping, walking, social dialogue, and cultural interaction of people.
