Abstract:
Ekamra kshetra signigies a licing sacred geographical space; a place where everything is blessed pure a place where everything is blessed pure and auspicious. The interdependence among the belief system, cultural practices and natural resource has led to the development of sacred landscape of temple town of ekamra kshtra, bhubaneswar. The rapid changing of urban scenario is evolving as threat to cultural resources.Conserving historic and cultural resources in temple town have often been carried out in isolation. So Preparation of a comprehensive conservation management plan can be the solution for effective conservation and sustainability development of the site. This thesis deals with preparation of conservation management plan of ekamra kshetra. conservation management plan for this large town is needed interpretation of history,previous developments of the site.The background study covers literature study and Literature reviews. Literature is categorized into 2 parts - Parameter based literature and case based. Literature reviews. review and surveys for interpretative analysis of aspects - sacred,landscape,interaction with landscape with landscape,temple town development,temple town development,symbolic geometry; also condition of heritage resources ( tangibles and intangibles ) in contemporary situations and significance of the site.The theories and interpretation based on the research paper of previous session titled as Conservation management in temple towns of India working as baseline information for the conservation management part of the Thesis. The vision of the management plan has been people centric and the approach has been value based.
