Abstract:
Spatial data is a very imperative part of planning. Despite being of utmost
mportance, very less efforts are made to harness it, especially at the local level
Urban Local Bodies), which are a major node for data creation and sharing.
Spatial Data Infrastructure is one of the ways by which the spatial data could be
made available to stakeholders. It can become a medium for coordinating and
acilitating spatial data sharing between stakeholders of different hierarchy.
The study aims at formulating a framework for spatial data Infrastructure and using
t with a GIS based model for Spatial Decision Support. The case study area is
ndore, a city located in central India, in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
ndore municipal corporation area was studied to assess the distribution of water
supply in the study area and the status of GIS applications for spatial data
generation and management.
A spatial decision support system which was based on Geographic Information
System (GIS) based modelling is used to predict the Urban Growth. The growth
simulation was done using an artificial intelligence based cellular automata model.
This growth simulation was then used to estimate the spatial water requirement for
he future.
A municipal spatial data infrastructure framework is then proposed in the context
of the study area which consists of the governance framework, data requirements
and funding model. This Spatial Data Infrastructure is then linked to GIS based
model to function as a Spatial Decision Support System.
