Abstract:
In this dissertation paper, I want to study how the human brain experience the architectural spaces and what type of architectural principle can be applied to improve the quality of healing space for psychiatric patient .Space is a soul of any peace of architecture which can be achieve through understanding of sense, emotion and character of each volume which contain into building Space is one of the common word which is used in the field of architecture, but concept of space is quite complicated and makes it difficult to define. Space is not something predetermined and fixed; In fact, it is the personal location which defines the space Moreover, the perception of space is only possible in the presence of the perceptible objects therefore space is the relation among objects. Space is both neutral and subjective; the philosopher's space seems to be different from the architect’s space which is also different from many people's space. However, in reality (of our everyday life) we conceive space in similar ways especially when spaces are designed for specific purposes. For example, a staircase is for walking up and down and links two locations of moderate distance. The question of this research therefore focuses on architectural space which is the key to understand architecture. Only through use, not design, will space become architectural space and begins to be very ambiguous not only in how we use space but also, as a result, in how we design space. "Architecture is thought full process to make the space". - L.I. khan Architecture acts as a catalyst for the healing process. The mind and the body respond to their direct environment, perceiving and reacting to both their physical and emotional surroundings. Social settings permeate indoor and outdoor spaces of health care units, creating purposeful locations for interaction and community living. Bringing the idea of “the garden” into the design scheme, a familiar, comfortable environment is created with feature garden spaces signifying growth and regeneration. Healing through design means a better connection through natures an important factor for any healing space. The window of the building should be a medium of and interaction between nature and built form.
