Abstract:
With the ever-growing fast-paced modernization, the towns with historical importance have sustained urban transformation eventually leading to crumbling of the historical structures ultimately resulting into loss of identity. Rajasthan is a pivotal part of tourism attraction in India and is the cultural as well as the historical hub. It is a necessity that the regions are revived as per their heritage and the identities which are lost with this trending process of development. Although some regions have revived their lost identities, this study aims at resuscitating the lost identity of historic towns through the incorporation of regional art-craft and tourism. The study is based on the attempt to impart efficiency to everyday urbanism by craft rejuvenation and tourism for restituting the historical Shekhawati towns. The study is segmented into three several objectives for achieving the mentioned aim. The first objective projects the identity revitalization and ceasing the older structures undergoing new development. This is followed by the creation of a regional intersection of local art and craft through the combination of cultural and tourism layers. The final objective covers the involvement and participation of communities for integrating everyday urbanism to uplift tourism potential using Sikar as an anchor town. The generalized methodological framework starts from the identification of regional art-craft followed by the identification of hotspots for involving local bodies and communities for installing art centers. Generation of revenue through tourism investment and framing a regulatory strategic plan for conservation covers the final stages of methodological process. The study would prove to be beneficial for the restitution of lost identities of historically important towns of Shekhawati. This will provide a strong foundation for modern-day researchers to analyze different layers like tourism, art-craft, regional connectivity and cultural heritage together into a common platform for reviving the identities of paramount towns of the nation.
