Abstract:
“The good building is not one that hurts the landscape, but one which makes the landscape more
beautiful than it was before the building was built.” - Frank Lloyd Wright - Combining natural beauty, traditional heritage..and rich history, Nepal is one of the most culturally appealing place I..the world. Historic cities and temples..are surrounded by broadmountain ranges that hug the country and run through its incredibly diverse landscape withsuch a wonderful array of ethnicity, Nepal is a place like no other. The traditional architectureis well adapted to the environment and the rhythms of rural setting. As tradition and cultureare greatly interrelated with one another, it influences one’s true identity which is passeddown by our ancestors which is then passed down to our future generation. So, it is our rightful duty keep these cultures and traditions alive by taking necessary actions to protect them so that the feeling of belongingness doesn’t fade away with time. An ideal hill home is one with thick stonewalls, a ground floor storage and cattle room, upper story bedrooms and kitchen, a spacious courtyard, veranda, and cosy sheds for livestock. Keeping these things in mind a design should also helps and encourages the use of local materials likes - Stone, Mud, Bamboo, Timber and so on. In its further analysis the area is prone to disaster which is one of the major factor needs to be taken care of while designingand that can be achieved when the management is left in hands of local because they knowbettet about the it which will help in designing space which suits and are comfortable with.It hence requires us to take into account the cultural, social, and environmental context topreserve and protect them for the upcoming generations. The project aims fulfillment of needs of the users by providing better, livable, built andworking environment which will help in enhancing livelihood and economy of thecommunity for their own well being. As the site is located in rural setting it requires a designintent which will better suit the natural and cultural landscape. A proper study on their settlement and their livelihood is done before designing their dwelling units and other spaces to enchance their way of living while construction process architecturally.
