Abstract:
Amaltas hospital and institute of medical sciences is located 11 kms outside the city of Dewas near the village Bangar in Madhya Pradesh and operates an urban outreach and wellness center 2.3 kms away from their campus to treat patients for drug and alcohol addiction and want to construct an IRCA as a part of their extension plan on their land inside the campus premises. The main idea is to create impact through architecture and help the patient by stimulating his/her senses. Architecture and landscaping can significantly become a part of the healing process through the creation of spaces that provide gradual rehabilitation through a therapeutic environment. The Proposed Rehabilitation Centre shall cater to the treatment of persons suffering from behavioral, emotional disorders and substance abuse. This Centre is thus intended as an initiation for future institutions in India and is designed to promote holistic healing in the residents and help them find serenity, peace and regain purpose in life through their time spent and experiences in the healing environment. This center can also become a minimum standard for the de-addiction centers and IRCAs to be built in the country in the coming years.
