With its favorable geographic location and natural beauty, Visakhapatnam possesses the ideal ingredients to attract cruise liners and capitalize on the increasing popularity of cruise vacations. This thesis highlights the need for a well-designed cruise terminal infrastructure, which can serve as a gateway to the city and enhance the overall visitor experience, while also contributing to the economic and social development of the region. The thesis delves into the evolving landscape of cruise tourism, examining the global trends, market potential, and economic impact of this industry. It analyses the unique characteristics of Visakhapatnam, including its rich cultural heritage, scenic coastline, and proximity to tourist attractions, which position it as a prime destination for cruise liners and passengers seeking immersive experiences. By understanding the specific requirements and challenges associated with cruise terminal design, this thesis proposes a comprehensive architectural solution that addresses functional needs, passenger flow, security measures, sustainability considerations, and integration with the existing urban fabric. The design emphasizes the creation of a welcoming and efficient terminal environment, incorporating amenities such as check-in facilities, customs and immigration procedures, passenger services, retail outlets, and recreational spaces.
